Gus W. Flangas
A native Nevadan raised in Las Vegas, Mr. Flangas served ten years in the United States Army as a Commissioned Officer and Aviator. After serving both stateside and abroad, he left the military for law school in 1990 and returned to Las Vegas in 1993 to practice law. An accomplished litigator, Mr. Flangas has focused his career primarily on all aspects of complex civil litigation, real estate and business litigation, appellate work, Defamation litigation, and personal injury. With over two and half decades of extensive litigation experience including numerous bench and jury trials, Mr. Flangas has established himself as an outstanding advocate for our clients. He has taken on the toughest of cases and has obtained tremendous results. Mr. Flangas's work ethic and professionalism has made him an outstanding advocate for our clients in the courtroom environment.
Mr. Flangas is committed to the community and has been very active in a number of community related pursuits. He served as a Commissioner on the City of Las Vegas Planning Commission from 2009 to 2017. He was Vice-Chairman of the Commission in 2012 and Chairman for the years 2013 and 2014. He served on the Board of Directors for Goodwill of Southern Nevada for over 15 years, and was on the Executive Board as Vice Chairman. He was named "Humanitarian of the Year" by Goodwill in 2004. He has also been the chairman for over 15 years of the Greek Food Festival, a large three-four day cultural event that attracts over 23, 000 to 30,000 people each year. In conjunction with the Festival, he has put together a related charitable event involving a Torch Run that over time has raised monies for several charities, including Goodwill, the Boys and Girls Club, the Nevada National Guard, The Wounded Warrior Project, Fischer House Foundation and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He has served on the Board of Directors for St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church for many years, and has been president of the Church for six years. He is active in military related organizations, including the Blackhorse Association, a national military related organization for active and former United States Calvary soldiers. He also served three years on the Advisory Board for the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Nevada. In addition, he has coached youth baseball, basketball, football and soccer for many years. He has also assisted many people who have limited resources, with their legal issues on a pro-bono basis without fanfare or acknowledgment.
In 2015, Mr. Flangas was selected as a Distinquished Nevadan, the most prestigious award conferred by the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents, for significant achievements contributing to the cultural, scientific or social advancement of Nevada and its people.
Mr. Flangas received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada Reno in 1980, and received a Master of Science Degree in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Arkansas, in 1990 while on active duty in the military. He received his Juris Doctor from the McGeorge School of Law, Sacramento, California, in 1993. Mr. Flangas is admitted to practice in the State of Nevada, and before the Nevada Supreme Court, the Federal District Courts of Nevada, as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the State Bar of Nevada and the Clark County Bar Association. Mr. Flangas has also received the prestigious Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Rating.
